Whether at the show ring or behind the scenes, Edgewood has a dedicated team of talented professionals that care for the rider and horse.
Robyn Burton was a successful junior competitor in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions. Robyn spent the majority of her junior years riding with Hap Hansen and Michael Endicott. While attending Pepperdine University, Robyn worked for Leslie Steele and received her advanced hunter education while learning how to manage a show barn.
After graduating from Pepperdine University, with a BA in advertising, Robyn continued her lifelong love of riding. Robyn worked for Vanessa Haas managing the care and training of her horses at Leslie Steele’s farm, Acres West. In 1999, Robyn joined Bob Walker as his assistant and rider.
Robyn worked for more than ten years as Bob’s assistant trainer and rider. During those years she trained riders to championships at the national level and chose winning horses for the Edgewood sales program. Robyn stepped down as assistant trainer at Edgewood and is now working as the barn manager. She is brilliantly knowledgeable on soundness and horse health. She is also meticulous in her care for all the animals on the farm and for the entire property.
Many years, jumps, and horses later, Robyn continues to enjoy her managing role at Edgewood and is riding as an amateur with Bob and Erin.
Robyn and her husband Mark (an attorney at Hersh & Hersh) were married in 2003 and have two boys, Ridge and Chase.
The Edgewood training team and clientele are supported by a caring, hardworking team of 5 grooms headed by Frutoso (“Tocho”) Vega. Tocho has been with Edgewood since 1999 and is now also a trained operator of the Equine Spa. He is gentle and honest and a valued member of our family. We are also very lucky to have other grooms that care for our horses at home and away. Our team knows and understands every Edgewood horse completely and brings a positive unity between trainers, clients and grooms – always with a smile.
